To ensure the smooth flow of traffic and maintain security during the 11th Muharram procession from Chohar Chowk, the City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has announced a detailed traffic management plan. The plan aims to minimize public inconvenience and provide alternative routes during the event.

Deployment of Traffic Personnel

As per the traffic plan, a total of 194 officers and personnel will perform special duties on the day of the procession, including:

  • 1 Senior Traffic Officer
  • 5 DSPs (Deputy Superintendents of Police)
  • 27 Senior Traffic Wardens
  • 161 Traffic Wardens and Assistants

This strategic deployment is intended to manage traffic diversions and support public mobility throughout the city.

Major Road Closures and Diversions

To facilitate the procession and ensure public safety, several key roads will be temporarily closed, and diversions will be implemented:

  • Peshawar Road will remain completely closed from Charing Cross to Pirwadhai Morr from the start to the end of the procession.
  • Traffic from Saddar to Peshawar will be diverted at Charing Cross toward Westridge Road, allowing vehicles to continue via Marble Factory Road to IJP Road.
  • Vehicles coming from Peshawar to Saddar will be rerouted through Carriage Factory, Ganjmandi Morr, and Transit Camp to enter Saddar via Mall Road.

Additional Closures

  • Chohar Chowk to Range Road will be fully closed during the procession.
