Yes, but there is a one-month grace period after expiry with no fine. After that, fines increase the longer you wait — a smaller fine for 1–3 months, a larger one for 3 months to 1 year, and the maximum for licences expired over a year.
A fresh or renewed licence can be issued for 1 to 5 years. An International Driving Licence is normally issued for 3 years.
You can apply for a duplicate licence. The duplicate fee depends on your category (Rs. 100 to Rs. 200) plus the Rs. 480 courier fee.
