What is the L-shape driving test?

The L-shape test is the practical reversing exam used at driving licence centres across Pakistan. You guide a car forward along one arm of an L-shaped lane, turn a sharp 90-degree corner, and then reverse the whole way back — all without knocking over the cones that mark the edges. It is the part of the test most learners worry about, because it demands precise clutch control, smooth steering and confident reversing in a tight space.

This simulator recreates that exact challenge in your browser so you can practise the movement as many times as you like before the real exam.

Why practise with this simulator

Real track dimensionsA 10 ft forward arm and 9 ft reverse arm, each 65 ft long, matching the official L-shape diagram.
Forward & reverse phasesDrive to the end, then reverse back — exactly like the real test sequence.
Gear selectionSwitch between 1st and Reverse just like a real manual car.

Engine soundThe engine note rises with your speed for a realistic feel.
Works on any deviceLarge touch controls for Android and iOS, plus full keyboard support on desktop.

How to pass the L-shape track

  1. Start in 1st gear. Ease forward slowly and keep the car centred between the cones.
  2. Approach the corner wide. Stay slightly wide so your rear wheels don’t clip the inner corner cone.
  3. Turn smoothly. Steer steadily through the 90-degree bend, then straighten up along the next arm.
  4. Switch to Reverse. At the end, change gear and back along the same path, watching both sides.

Controls

Use the on-screen arrow buttons or your keyboard’s arrow keys / WASD. Press the gear buttons to choose 1st or R. In 1st gear, any direction key drives the car forward; in Reverse, every key backs the car up except the forward arrow. Left and right always steer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the L-shape driving test in Pakistan?

It is a practical driving exam where you drive forward along an L-shaped track, turn a tight 90-degree corner, and reverse back without touching the cones. It tests clutch control, steering precision and reversing skill.

What are the dimensions of the L-shape track?

This simulator uses the real proportions from the official diagram: a forward arm 10 feet wide and 65 feet long, a reverse arm 9 feet wide and 65 feet long, meeting at a plain right-angle corner. The car is modelled on a small 4.5 ft by 9 ft vehicle such as a Suzuki Mehran or Alto.

How do I control the car?

Use the on-screen arrow buttons or your keyboard arrow keys (or WASD). Pick 1st gear to drive forward or Reverse (R) to back up. In 1st gear any key moves the car forward; in Reverse every key reverses the car except the forward arrow. Left and right steer.

Does the simulator work on mobile phones?

Yes. It runs in any modern mobile browser on Android and iOS with large touch buttons and engine sound. You can also add it to your home screen to play it full-screen like an app.

Is the L-shape driving test simulator free?

Yes, it is completely free to play in the browser with no download or sign-up required.
