Driving Licence Test in Urdu — What This Practice Test Covers

Every applicant in Pakistan has to pass a written road-sign and theory test before a learner permit is issued. For a large number of candidates the barrier is not the driving — it is reading a dense Urdu question paper under time pressure. This page exists to remove that barrier.

Practice by licence category

• Motorcycle licence test — 70cc, 125cc and all two-wheelers.
• Motorcar and jeep — private, non-commercial vehicles.
• LTV licence test — light transport vehicles, including cars used commercially.
• HTV licence test — buses, trucks and heavy commercial vehicles.
• PSV — public service vehicles.

The theory and sign portion is broadly shared across categories, which is why one Urdu practice bank prepares you for all of them. Heavier categories tend to draw more questions on load, braking distance and lane discipline.

How the Pakistan LLR (Learner Permit) Test Works

LLR — learner licence registration, usually just called the learner permit — is the first step. You pass a written multiple-choice test on road signs and traffic rules, and you are then permitted to practise on public roads before attempting the practical driving test.

• Format: most authorities ask around 15 to 20 multiple-choice questions, drawn from the mandatory, warning and informatory sign families plus general traffic rules.
• Pass mark: typically in the region of 60–80% correct. The exact figure varies by city and authority, so confirm it locally and practise well beyond it.
• Age: a learner permit is generally available from 16, a permanent licence from 18.
• Validity: a learner permit is normally valid for six months.
• Language: the paper is available in Urdu at most centres — which is exactly the format this quiz mirrors.

Rules differ between provinces and are revised from time to time. Treat the figures above as a guide and check the current requirement with your own licensing authority before you book.

Traffic Signs in Urdu — The Three Sign Families

Most sign questions become straightforward once you stop memorising individual pictures and start reading shape and colour. Pakistan uses three families:

1. Mandatory signs — لازمی نشانات

Usually circular. A red ring means a prohibition (no entry, no horn, no overtaking); a blue circle means a positive instruction you must follow. These are orders, not suggestions, and ignoring one is an offence.

2. Warning signs — انتباہی نشانات

Usually triangular with a red border. They warn of a hazard ahead — a bend, a slippery surface, falling rocks, a soft verge, a pedestrian crossing. They tell you to prepare, not to stop.

3. Informatory signs — اطلاعی نشانات

Usually rectangular or square, often blue or green. They give directions, distances, facilities and route information rather than instructions.

Because the real exam randomises the order of the answer options, learning the underlying logic is far more reliable than remembering that "the second option was correct last time".

How to Use the Urdu Audio
